Born on May 14, 1948, in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Channavajjala Mallikarjuna Prasad has dedicated his life to both medicine and preserving the history of the Andhra Telugu Brahmin community. His scholarly interest in this community led to the creation of The Andhara Telugu Brahmins, a detailed historical work.

Educational Background and Training

Dr. Prasad earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Bombay and later completed medical training in psychiatry and neurology in the U.S. He is board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.

Medical Career

Dr. Prasad served as a staff psychiatrist at St. Elizabeths Hospital for over 20 years and continues to provide psychiatric services in the Washington, D.C. area. His clinical expertise includes geriatric psychiatry, pain management, and addiction medicine.

Community Service

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Prasad is the Medical Director of Neighbors’ Cosejo, a nonprofit organization offering mental health care and rehabilitation to underserved communities in Washington, D.C.
